The first four of the deadly whites are white rice, white flour, white salt, and white sugar, as explored in the first three parts of this article. The last deadly white is white oil. What do I mean by white oil? White oil is any processed oil, found in the grocery stores, that comes in plastic or glass jars, such as vegetable oil, corn oil, safflower oil, canola oil, peanut oil, sesame seed oil, and even olive oil. Many people believe that vegetable oils, and nowadays, especially olive oil, are health foods. Processed oils are not health foods, and, in fact, oils and fats create the perfect environment for many cancers to grow. Cancer loves fat and oil of any kind, and it is not choosy about saturated or unsaturated. And once that fat is heated, that fat is even worse for you. Fats and oils clog up our arteries and veins causing a multitude of conditions and diseases that we are all familiar with: cardiovascular disease, strokes, hypertension, diabetes, gallstones, kidney stones, and many more. And we all know fat is very high in calories and gets stored in those places we see, and, even worse, fat gets stored in places we dont see like around the heart, kidneys, and other vital organs. Obesity, or thirty pounds overweight, alone is the direct cause of many conditions and diseases. Obesity is said by some experts to directly contribute to approximately 300,000 premature deaths in this country every year, a conservative estimate. So is white oil deadly? You bet it is, especially when consumed with the other four deadly whites: white flour, white rice, white salt, and white sugar. There are a group of oils and fats that are considered even worse for your body and your health than the vegetable oil out of the bottle or the butter from the stick. These fats are called trans fats. Basically trans fats are altered fats. When oil is heated, it turns into trans fat. Trans fats are known to be even a greater risk for heart disease and cancer than butter. Foods that are made with heated oils contain trans fats, including such foods as: Fried foods Baked goods Cooked foods that contain oil Chips Crackers Candy Cookies and cakes Donuts Packaged and processed foods Any time there is oil in a food that is heated, whether it is baked or fried, that oil turns into a deadly substance called trans fats which is said to cause heart disease and cancer. Trans fats are also found in hydrogenated fats. Hydrogenated fats are those oils that are semi-solid in nature, like margarines. Margarines of any kind are horrible for you, and butter is no better. Hydrogenated fats are found in obvious places and in the most unsuspecting places. Read the labels. Hydrogenated fats are found in mayonnaise, shortening, salad dressings, peanut butter, chocolate, and candy, including some hard candies that you would never guess had any fat hidden in them at all. Along with heart disease and cancer, trans fats cause increased cholesterol, atherosclerosis, and compromise of the immune system, the nervous system, and the metabolic system. The membranes of the cells, which are responsible for the nutrients getting into the cells and the waste getting out of the cells, are also damaged. If a food substance contains added processed oil and/or hydrogenated and trans fats, seriously consider eliminating these foods from your diet and daily food intake altogether. Not only will it enhance your health and fitness, but eliminating added fats and oils will facilitate healthy weight loss and ideal weight maintenance forever.
